9point8 drops weight with the new Fall Line R

Ancaster, Ont. company gets race light with new dropper post model

9point8 isn’t satisfied saying its new Fall Line R dropper post is lighter than other droppers. Instead, the Ancaster, Ont. company is going after your static post with the newest version of it’s time-tested Fall Line model.

9point8 Fall Line RHow light is the new Fall Line R? The lightest version of the dropper post tips the scales at just 322g. That’s for an XC race-ready 75mm stroke post, in the 30.9mm diameter option, post only. Fully installed with the company’s kit, it’s still just 384g.

Following the tag-line “Engineering is lighter than carbon,” the Canadian company has redesigned or refined most parts of the post from the original Fall Line model to get the post’s weight down.

The post head is lower and lighter, and is available in zero or 25mm offset, and will work with round or oval-rail, titanium and carbon-rail seats. Black-Ti coated titanium hardware, micro-adjustable seat angle, and a post head that allows independent adjustment of seat angle and fore/aft position are all included on the Fall Line R, as well as a new, patent pending, rotational anti-backlash design. Despite the posts light weight, 9point8 says there’s no weight limit on the Fall Line R.

As always, the posts are manufactured in Canada at 9point8’s Ancaster facility, and come with a 2-year warranty.

Quality comes at a price, though. The made-in-Canada lightweight post has a MSRP of CAD$519, before adding a remote lever.
