Amaury Pierron on vacation on Reunion Island is a tropical fever dream

Lush loam and big air have us dreaming of a island escape

Amaury Pierron Reunion Island

After exploding onto the World Cup scene in 2018, taking his first World Cup win and the series overall title, Amaury Pierron needed a little down time. The French downhill racer headed to Reunion Island for two weeks of beaches, tropical fruit, lazy days and … absolutely shredding on a trail bike.

The Commencal Vallnord rider traded in the DH rig for his sponsors Meta AM 29 trail bike. What happens next is a far cry from beach cruises under palm trees.

With a soundtrack by The Black Angels, Peirron shows that when he visits, La Piton de la Fournaise, a 2,632m active volcano, isn’t the only explosive force of nature on Reunion Island.
