Boris Beyer: The man behind the camera

"Rubber Side Down" profiles one of mountain biking's most passionate photographers

Boris Bayer

Mountain biking is a highly visual sport, mixing riding action with an incredible natural setting. But where do all those photos come from?

In the final episode of Rubber Side Down‘s fourth season, Maxxis profiles Boris Beyer.

The charismatic and colorful German photographer, usually sporting a Bass Pro Shops hat at all times, follows World Cup downhill as well as the Enduro World Series. At both, he is the source of many of mountain biking’s most stunning images.

A constant stream of images doesn’t come easy, though. Rubber Side Down follows Beyer through the week of Crankworx Whistler events to see just how much work goes into each photo. Long days stretch well past 12 hours behind the lens. But that’s just the start. Back in his room, Beyer edits and uploads thousands of photos.

Only a deep seated passion for the sport could keep one man so motivated to keep chasing the next banger shot. Go behind the lens with Maxxis to see what drives Boris Beyer to keep chasing this sport around the world.
