Emil Johansson gets Rampage ready

Slopestyle's comeback kid gets set for his first Red Bull Rampage appearance

Emil Johansson

Emil Johansson is headed to his first Red Bull Rampage appearance today. The young Swede has taken the world of slopestyle by storm. Can he make the same impression at Rampage?

Slopestyle’s Comeback Kid got the last minute call up to the Utah freeride event, following Antoine Bizet’s practice injury. That’s left Johansson with less time to prepare, but not necessarily lower expectations.

Johansson is used to making strong first impressions, though. He burst onto the slopestyle scene in 2016. That year, the young Swede finished fourth at Red Bull Joyride.

A year later, he was taking podium places at Crankworx stops around the world. A silver at Red Bull Joyride, and more podiums in Les Gets and Rotorua. After taking time off to recover from a mysterious autoimmune disease, Johansson returned to competition and won Red Bull Joyride 2019. The win cemented what was already a well, and quickly established reputation as one of Slopestyles greats.

What can he do in the world of freeride? Tune in to watch Red Bull Rampage 2019 live Friday, 25 Oct. 2019.
