e*thirteen update TRS tire and adds LG1 DH tire for 2018

27.5” and 29” downhill tire options join existing enduro tire offering

For 2018, e*thirteen has reengineered its TRS tire and added the LG1 downhill tire to its lineup. While e*thirteen previously had the TRS as its sole tire offering, in a Race and Plus option, the tire attracted enough attention as an aggressive enduro and trail tire that the company has expanded its line-up for the coming season. The LG1 is now available as the downhill designated version of the TRS tread compound, with tougher dual-ply construction compared to the single-ply TRS. The LG1 will be available in both 27.5” and 29” options, making it the latest entry into the still-sparse field of aggressive 29” DH tire options.

Both the TRS and LG1 are available in the basic Plus casing as well as a Race casing that comes with an added layer of aramid reinforcement to protect against sidewall cuts and punctures. Race casing also adds a high-tack compound rubber to the side knobs for extra traction on wet roots, cornering and off-cambre grip, while Plus casing uses the same compound across the entire tread.

Instead of just adding the DH, LG1 option, e*thirteen have also refined its TRS model. Apex inserts add sidewall thickness to both the Plus and Race versions of both tires, and creates a more stable sidewall while still allowing the tread to conform to uneven trail surfaces. The side knobs have also had siping added, to provide more corning traction.

As with the first generation of e*thirteen tires, the TRS and LG1 are only offered in a 2.35” width. Claimed weights for the tires in different diameters and casings are:

TRS Race: 25.7” – 995g, 29” – 1,094g
TRS Plus: 27.5” – 990g, 29” – 1,033g
LG1 Race: 27.5” – 1,158g, 29” – 1,257g
LG1 Plus: 27.5” – 1,119g, 29” – 1,162g
