EWS Continental Series drops in to Ontario in 2020
Canada gets two stops on North American enduro calendar, plus qualifier races
The Enduro World Series announced its 2020 calendar of continental and qualifier series events, including five stops in Canada.
Two continental series races in Canada for 2020
Two of the seven stops on the EWS North American continental series will be north of the border. Sun Peaks, outside Kamloops, B.C. will host the fourth round of NAES racing on June 20-21, 2020. The NAES heads east to Blue Mountain, Ont, for round five. Sea Otter Canada and Norco Canadian Enduro Series will host the only other Canadian stop at NAES on July 4-5, 2020.
Only one NAES stop visited Canada in 2019, when the Norco Canadian Enduro Series brought EWS Continental-level racing to Revelstoke, B.C.
The North American Enduro Series is expanding for 2020. It is now a seven-stop series, compared to three last year. With the expansion comes a rule change. Each racers best four results will count towards the continental series rankings.
New in 2019, the continental series is intended to provide a level of racing above the qualifier series, but below the main Enduro World Series events.
Canadian EWS Qualifier events
Canada is also getting three events on the EWS qualifier calendar. These races help aspiring racers earn the points they need to step up to continental and EWS-level racing.
Norco Canadian Enduro Series’ Fraser Valley Stop is the first opportunity for Canucks to try earn qualifier points. The Fraser Valley stop, which has kicked off the CNES for the last few years, takes place May 9, 2020.
The Squamish Enduro p/b OneUp Components will be the next qualifier race. Staying in B.C., the Squamish Enduro takes place June 13, 2020.
After B.C., it’s Quebec’s turn. NCES heads to Bromont, Que. to partner with BMaaxx events for the final Canadian stop on the EWS qualifier calendar. That race takes place July 11, 2020.
