Pivot Cycles-OTE ends 2019 on a high note at Showshoe, West Virgina

Raphael Auclair ended his 2019 World Cup season on a high note Sunday in West Virginia.

The Pivot Cycles-OTE rider was fifth at the final round of racing, after racing with the front group for much of the eight-lap race. In the end, Filippo Colombo eked out a three second advantage over Jofre Cullell Estape of Spain to win the under-23 men’s XCO. Auclair was just 37 seconds behind, fifth, and one spot behind recently-crowned world champion Vlad Dascalu of Romania.

Tyler Orschel (Durham Shredders) and Gunnar Holmgren (Hardwood Next Wave) were the next across the line for Canada. Orschel was 21st, Holmgren 22nd. Quinton Disera (Norco Factory Team) was 28th. Victor Verreault  (42nd), Philippe St. Laurent (44th) and William Cote (49th) rounded out the Canadian under-23 men’s entries in the West Virginia World Cup.

Under-23 women’s XCO – Snowshoe, West Virginia

Evie Richards (Trek Factory Racing) also had a great season ender in Snowshoe. After a string of three second place World Cup finishes, Richards beat under 23 World Champion Laura Stigger to win the West Virginia World Cup round. Loana Lecomte was third, 29 seconds behind Stigger.

Mackenzie Myatt (Trek) was the top Canadian in the under-23 women’s XCO, finishing 16th at Snowshoe. Canadian u23 national champion Laurie Arseneault (ACQ)was two spots behind in 18th.

Roxane Vermette finished 22nd, and Juliette Tetreault (23rd) at the final World Cup of 2019.
