Canadian endurance mountain biker Cory Wallace is currently in Nepal, attempting to ride the 220km Annapurna Circuit trekking route in under-24 hours.

Wallace is hoping to beat his previous record of 23 hours 57 minutes. He set that record in 2017, beating his goal by a scant three minutes after riding through the night.

While the Jasper, Alta-based rider has surpassed the 24 hour mark once already, he is back in Nepal trying to beat his own record. The attempt is part of an effort to  raise funds for the Nepalese coaching institute. Wallace helped establish the centre using money raised during his 2017 ride.

You can follow Wallace’s progress live through Garmin Trailhouse here.

Kona’s long-distance pro has been in Nepal for weeks acclimatizing to altitude as part of his preparations for the Sub-24hr attempt. While there, he won his third straight Yak Attack mountain bike stage race.

If Wallace is able to beat his time, and raise the funds necessary to keep the coaching centre open for another year, it will cap of an excellent late season run for the Canadian. On top of his Yak Attack hat trick, Wallace recently defended his 24 Hour Solo World Championships title in Fort William, Scotland.
