Watch this now: “Gamble” downhill movie’s official trailer

Minnaar, Bryceland and Steve Peat channel Guy Ritchie for full length downhill movie

Gamble Film Steel City Media

Steel City Media and Creative Concept have assembled the world’s best downhill racers for their latest project, Gamble, and set them loose beyond the confines of World Cup race tape. With a crew of DH’s most entertaining and charismatic riders and globe trotting list of shoot locations, Gamble looks like a proper big bike movie production.

If the narrator’s voice sounds familiar, that’s because it is. The Steel City Media and Creative Concept somehow talked none other than Alan Ford of Snatch and Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrel’s fame into narrating their bike film. Unlike those classic Guy Ritchie films, Ford restrains himself to just one expletive, in the trailer at least.

While the best downhill riders in the world is likely enough to pique most viewers interest, Gamble has plenty of Canadian content grounding the globe trotting film schedule with some local interest. Canyon Factory Racing’s Mark Wallace stays close to home, sending big lines in the dense forests around Duncan, B.C., while Whistler’s young talent Finn Iles heads overseas for his part in the movie. Retallack Lodge in the interior of British Columbia has a growing reputation as a world class mountain biking destination, and it’s 6,000 ft. peak-to-lodge descents make an appearance in Gamble.

Gamble is available now on several streaming services to watch at home. The film is also touring to locations around the world if you’d rather wait for the big screen experience, which will leave you plenty of time to go back and watch Snatch and Lock, Stock, to really set the mood for seeing the film live.
