Get a head start on 2019 season, as EWS releases calendar for next year

Four new venues promised over week long, daily venue announcement

Enduro World Series : Derby Tasmania EWS

There are still close to two months remaining before 2018 Enduro World Series racing starts at Lo Barnechea, Chile, but the series has already started announcing its 2019 calendar. Seems a bit early, right? Well, with the addition of Continental series titles and an expanded EWS Qualifier series, plus the global reach of the events, there’s actually some practicality to the early announcement. Managing Director of the EWS, Chris Ball said “We’ve been working to announce the 2019 calendar much earlier this year to allow the local organisers, riders and fans more time to prepare.” To add to the excitement of a daily, week long calendar announcement, organizers have announced there will be four entirely new venues in the series for 2019.

Two events for next year have been announced so far, both returning events from the 2017 season. Rotorua, New Zealand and Derby, Tasmania will be back to their opening spots after a year off the calendar in 2018. Round one, on March 23, 2019 will be the third time the trails of Whakarewarewa Forest on New Zealand’s North Island have played host to the series. As with last year, racing continues the following weekend in the North East of Tasmania on March 30. Next year will be the second time EWS visits Derby, but the venue is already popular among fans and riders alike. The small Tasmanian town picked up Specialized Trail of the Year Award at the end of the 2017 EWS season for Detonate Trail.

If you’ve been thinking about giving it a go at the big show, this week long slow rollout of race venues for next year should be a sign you might want to start planning your qualifying now. With the enduro discipline rapidly growing in popularity, limited rider fields are filling up faster every year, even at qualifying events, making punching your ticket to an EWS main event something that needs to be planned out well in advance. Nothing motivates training like working towards a goal, so stay tuned as the 2019 calendar is released over the next week an pick your dream race to work towards this year.
