In a year that marks Intense Cycles 25th anniversary, it’s founder, Jeff Steber will step back into the role of CEO. Following a number of years of growth by the American brand, and an especially successful return to form in their downhill race team, Intense Factory Racing, Steber will return to the helm at Intense. While Steber never actually left the company, he did step into a behind the scenes role as Creative Director for four years, during which Andrew Herrick occupied the CEO position.
Steber already has an aggressive agenda planned for the brand in 2018, including launching Intense’s 29” downhill race bike, the M29, through the Intense Rider-Direct program. The M29 was introduced as very, very limited run last year, marking a shift in the brand to refocus on its roots in downhill racing. While last year not even all the Intense Factory Racing members has access to the M29, this year all team members will be able to ride the bike, along with the general public once the bike is offered to consumers in spring 2018. Last year, Jack Moir found success on a one off prototype of the bike, netting some of the best results of his DH career.
