Unior/Devinci Factory Racing signs Vancouver’s Kirk McDowall for 2019
Two time Canadian national champion will race a full World Cup season with new team
Unior/Devinci Factory Racing is adding some serious Canadian talent to its World Cup downhill team for 2019.
Kirk McDowall, the two time Canadian national champion, has been called up to the big leagues after a string of big results in 2018. On the Crankworx circuit, McDowall was third in Les Gets DH, then fourth when the series moved to Innsbruck. Back on home turf, he backed that up with two more top 10 finishes at Crankworx Whistler in the Canadian Open DH and Garbanzo DH. All that adds up to some serious momentum heading into the Canadian’s first season of racing the full World Cup calendar.
“I’m confident their support will help bring the riding and results I’ve been capable of domestically to my first full World Cup season,” McDowall said of his new team home. “The Unior/Devinci team staff have already been amazing, and with the highly competitive equipment from all our sponsors, I can’t wait for the first race!”
The Vancouver racer has spent the better part of a decade cutting his teeth on the BC Cup circuit, at national races and internationally, racing on Devinci for Dunbar Cycles. This led to two consecutive Canadian downhill national championships, in 2016 and 2017.
McDowall joins American Dakotah Norton and Slovenian Jure Žabjek to make up the Unior/Devinci Factory Racing Team’s international trio of racers.
Scott Secco was on hand to catch Kirk McDowall testing out Devinci’s new Wilson 29 DH bike at home in Vancouver and on nearby Vancouver Island. Tune in to watch the full Unior/Devinici Factory Racing team, when they line up at the World Cup season opener in Maribor, Slovenia on April 27. Until then, follow McDowall on Instagram, and the Unior/Devinici Factory Racing team.
