Danny MacAskill & Claudio Caluori in Home of Trails
A Scottish and a Swiss mountain biker walk out of a gondola ...
What could be better than Claudio Caluori’s course previews following the best World Cup DH racers? How about following Danny MacAskill down some wild, steep mountains of the Graubünden region in Switzerland. Follow along as this mountain biking version of the Odd Couple trade leads and find creative lines through the Swiss mountain’s vast trail network. With MacAskill along, you know the trail is only a suggestion.
Starting from the summit of Piz Nair, sitting at 3,0000m elevation, the pair explore the peaks and trails in Graubünden, from Arosa Lenzerheide, Davos Klosters, Engadin St. Moritz, Flims to Scuol Samnaun Val Müstair. The pair ride, tram, and gondola around the regions thousands of summits, hundreds of lakes, and alpine chalets. Even stopping for a little charcuterie turns into a chance to find new lines and, as always, Caluori gets a little sideways trying to follow MacAskill’s lead.
The Scottish and Swiss pair take a reasonably casual approach to exploring the regions network of trails, but the pace will be upped substantially this September when the rest of the world arrives for UCI mountain bike world championships in Lenzerheide.
If you think you want to follow Caluori and MacAskill’s trail tour, “home of Trails” guided tour packages offer an all-inclusive experience from shuttles, accommodation and a private guide. Just maybe stick more to Caluori’s lines down the middle of the bridge, not MacAskill’s highwire trials routing. Head to Home of the Trails website for more info on tour options and what trails featured in the pair’s video.
