Canada’s rising crop of Under-23 riders used the opportunity to race in their home country to score excellent results at the Mont-Sainte-Anne World Cup cross country race on Sunday.

Sean Fincham (Forward Racing-Norco) continues to lead the Canadaian U23 crew. The Canadian U23 national champions 10th place finish on the storied and demanding MSA track is his best World Cup finish to date. South Africa’s Alan Hatherly won the race, with Specialized’s Christopher Blevins in second.

Close behind Fincham in 12th, Marc Andre Fortier (Pivot Cycles-OTE) jumped up the rankings to place 12th, with Norco Factory Racing’s younger Disera brother, Quinton, in 14th. Three Canadian racers in the top 15 of the U23 Men’s race is a fantastic showing for a strong crew of riders that been improving steadily all year.

Sophianne Samson (CVM Sigma Assurance) had an impressive showing on home soil, leading the Canadian women in 11th place. Samson was followed by U23 national champion Laurie Arseneault (ACQ) in 14th, Emily Unterberger (Pendrel Racing) in 16th, and Anne Julie Tremblay in 17th.

U23 world champion Sina Frei (Ghost Factory Racing) again won the Women’s U23 race ahead of Evie Richards (Trek Factory Racing) in second.
