Formation brings women’s freeride to original Rampage site

Classic Utah venue hosts weekend of female freeride progression

Women’s freeride is progressing fast, and Canadian riders are right at the front.

Whether it’s Casey Brown sending big lines at Red Bull Proving Grounds, Vaea Verbeeck winning Queen of Crankworx, or Micayla Gatto riding in remote locations around the world, Canada’s best riders are pushing mountain biking forward.

These Canadians met up with top riders from around the world in Virgin, Utah for the first ever Formation. Held on the site of the original Red Bull Rampage freeride festival, Formation shines a spotlight on women’s freeride in one of the most iconic locations in mountain biking.

Unlike the men’s competition format, Formation had bigger goals. Riding, learning, and pushing the sport forward together were the name of the game.

Originate, Red Bull’s video series following freeskier Michelle Parker, documents this movement for its latest episode.
