Results: Elliot Jamieson Bronze in Jr Men’s Downhill world championships

First year Junior leads three Canadians into the top 15 in Lenzerheide, Vali Höll wins Jr. Women's title

First year Junior Elliot Jamieson added to Canada’s medal tally on Sunday. The young White Rock, B.C. racer picked up Bronze in his first world championship appearance. Jamieson led out an impressive Canadian crew, with three finishing inside the top-15 in Lenzerheide.

Jamieson’s medal keeps up Canada’s streak of top Junior downhill racers with Jr. world champion and Jr. World Cup winner Finn Iles graduating to race in the Elite category for 2018. Jamieson also landed a sixth at Mont-Sainte-Anne World Cup earlier this season.

Pemberton’s Lucas Cruz finished off an impressive debut season with a 14th in his first world championships appearance. Just one position behind, Ben Wallace’s 15th place made it three Canadian’s in the top 15.

Kendall McLean was the next Canadian finisher in 24th, with Calgary, Alta’s Justin Clements close behind in 27th. Ian Milley in 40th and Keegan Fry in 47th rounded out a strong showing for Canada’s Juniors, showing there’s a big crew of young riders ready to join the country’s strong Elite Men’s program going forward.

Only Kade Edwards of Great Britain and Kye A’Hearn of Australia could best Jamieson. Edwards becomes Junior world champion, with A’Hearn in silver and Jamieson Bronze.

Valentina Höll of Austria continued to exert her dominance over the Junior Women’s field. In her first year of Junior racing, Höll claimed her first rainbow jersey by 10.881 seconds over America’s Anna Newkirk. Mille Johnset of Norway takes the Bronze.

No Canadian women contested the Junior Women’s Downhill event.
