Disera and Smith lead Canadians at US Cup STXC

Results from Fridays short track cross country race in Vail Lake, California

US Cup cross country racing is underway in Vail Lake, Cali.  this weekend, with Peter Disera and Haley Smith leading the Canadian team early on. Disera was fourth in pro men at Friday’s Short Track XC, with Smith sixth in pro women.

Those results were matched by a strong showing by Canada’s junior athletes. Nicole Bradbury, Juliette Larose-Gingras and Cody Scott all finished in the top 10 in Friday’s junior STXC racing.

While this week has seen widespread cancellation of events, US Cup organizers Team Big Bear and Sho-Air Cycling Group decided to leave the decision up to individual athletes. Several athletes in each category opted not to start. Many others, having already travelled to California, opted to race.
