Rubber Side Down returns with feature on Emil Johansson

Maxxis' web series is back and following Cranworx world tour after a two year hiatus

Rubber Side Down Emil Johansson

If you missed following Maxxis’ Rubber Side Down series, the web series is back and bigger than ever.

The crew from Steel City Media is back on board for the fourth season of the web series, giving an inside look into the world of mountain biking.

The first episode of the fourth season gets right into the action. Following Emil Johansson, Rubber Side Down gets into how the slopestyle star prepares for his first competition of the year – the Maxxis Slopestyle in Memory of McGazza at Crankworx Rotorua.

For Johansson, it’s not just the first event of the year. It’s the continuation of a dramatic narrative, where he was forced to sit out much of the 2018 due to health issues. An injured back and problems with his immune system kept him out of competition for ten full months. Then, at Red Bull Joyride in Whistler, Johansson made a dramatic comeback to place fourth in the seasons biggest event.

Back in Rotorua, New Zealand, Johansson is looking forward to a better start to the season. Healthy, focused and armed with an array of huge tricks, all is looking good during the week leading up to the big event. Not everything follows a fairy tale storyline, though. A big crash in practice shifts the focus of Rubber Side Down’s return episode, as Johansson struggles with after-effects of the heavy fall and has to make hard choices coming into competition day.
