Shifting Perceptions looks to the arriving generation of female racers

The next wave of women in mountain biking is looking fast and already landing podiums

In the final episode of Shifting Perceptions, its all about the next generation of women mountain bikers.

The Time is Now looks at how having female role models, events like Kidsworx and better equipment are all improving the experience of girls that are getting into the sport.

As these new riders start mountain biking earlier and earlier and earlier, and with more opportunities to engage with events like Crankworx, they’re getting faster.

Valentina Höll already landed an elite podium at the Innsbruck, Austria pumptrack event. It makes the young Austrian downhill racer the first woman to go from Kidsworx to Crankworx podium.

They may be the “next” generation of women in the sport, but they’re already pushing to catch up with the women that paved the way.

Back in Canada, Miranda Miller, Claire Buchar Micayla Gatto, Vaea Verbeeck and Bellingham, Wa.’s Queen of Crankworx Jill Kintner talk about how the the scene has changed since they first started in the sport, and how that’s making the young riders faster than ever.

Anneke Beerten hits Whistler Bike Park’s infamous A-Line with a train of young groms in tow, showing that whether its racing or riding, the next wave or women riders is rapidly progressing their riding.
