Stan’s Pivot-Pro Team p/b Maxxis is starting the new year with new sponsors, an expanded team roster and eyes set firmly on the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. Entering its fourth year of racing, the team has added Pivot Cycles and Maxxis Tires to its title-sponsor list, which join the XC teams founding sponsor Stan’s NoTubes. New racers Keegan Swenson and Sofia Gomez-Villafañe double the team’s returning roster of Chloe Woodruff and Rose Grant. The expanded Stan’s Pivot-Pro Team p/b Maxxis will target a mix of international and domestic races, from UCI World Cup XCO to the Andalucia Bike Race, Sea Otter Classic, Cactus Cup and the Epic Rides Off-Road Series.

Founding team member and Rio Olympian, Chloe Woodruff is looking forward to the opportunities the larger squad will afford each racer. “When we founded the team in 2015 with Stan’s NoTubes, we started thinking about how we could build a sustainable and racer-focused program,” Woodruff said. “Adding Keegan and Sofia will let us divide and conquer and remove some pressure off any single racer.”

Woodruff will be joined by Keegan Swenson in racing the full 2018 World Cup schedule. At just 24 years old, Swenson already has a wealth of racing experience and room to grow in the future. “I’m looking forward to getting back to racing at the World Cup level in preparation for Tokyo 2020,” Swenson said of joining the Rio Olympian on the road this year.

Stan’s Pivot Pro Team p/b Maxxis’ second signing, Sofia Gomez-Villafañe will focus on developing her racing on the domestic side of the calendar, joining three-time U.S. national marathon champion and returning team member Rose Grant. Gomez-Villafañe grew up in Argentina before starting her mountain bike career with the Norcal High School Cycling League. Consistent team support can be one of the hardest parts of breaking through to the elite ranks; the team hopes the added support and exposure will help Gomez-Villafañe continue her rapid progression as a racer that she has shown during her first few seasons of racing cross country.
