After a breakout 2017, where Mark Wallace finished eighth overall in the World Cup downhill standings, the young Canadian has been building speed steadily throughout this season. The Canyon Factory Racing rider followed up a 10th at Round 3 in Leogang with a near-podium performance at Round 4 in Val di Sole, where he finished sixth.

Rob Warner visits Smith at home in Duncan, B.C. to chop wood and talk shop. The pair discuss Wallace’s mentor in racing, the late Steve Smith and the rise of Finn Iles before heading up to Mount Prevost with local trail builder Riley Mcintosh to fix, then ride the mountain’s legendary trails.
