Bora-Hansgrohe’s 2018 Specialized S-Works Venge ViAS and Tarmac

Top end machine for peter Sagan's UCI WorldTour team Bora-Hansgrohe

Bora-Hansgrohe are abroad Specialized S-Works bikes for the second year after the California-based company joined the organization when it recruited Peter Sagan and made the leap to the WorldTour. Specialized supply the team with the top-end S-Works Tarmac SL6 for a variety of terrain including the high mountains. We haven’t yet seen the disc version of the Tarmac but it’s rumoured to be in close with the pro peloton beginning to adopt disc brakes. On flat and fast courses, the team can turn to the disc-equipped Venge ViAS with it’s aggressive aero tubing and integration. The team uses Roval wheelsets, Pro cockpits, and Specialized saddles and rubber.

Redesigned in 2017, the Tarmac is in its sixth generation. The Tarmac is an all-rounder with improved aerodynamics, comfort and weight from the previous model.  Bora-Hansgrohe get Tarmacs painted in the team colours with Shimano Dura-Ace 9100 rim brake groupsets. We are eagerly waiting the arrival of the disc version of the S-Works Tarmac SL6 which should be coming with a growing portion of the WorldTour peloton choosing to ride disc brakes in 2018.

S-Works Venge ViAS

There is no denying the Venge ViAS has an aggressive and uncompromising aerodynamic profile. The disc version of the bike was first seen at the beginning of 2017 and has the distinction of being the first disc equipped bike to be ridden to victory at a UCI professional bike race by Tom Boonen at the Vuelta a San Juan last January. Then Kittel was a top it for the first WorldTour level win on disc brakes at the Tour de France. It was an important milestone for disc brakes in proffesional cycling.
