“Once again, Specialized shows you can combine great looks and performance,” Sagan said about the bike he received the day before Christmas. “The fastest bike in the peloton now has dazzling colours. I look forward to riding it in the new season with Bora-Hansgrohe.”

The frame is painted with an iridescent silver that at different angles and in different light conditions shows the colours of the rainbow in a non-static manner. Specialized have painted frames in a similar manner for Marcel Kittel, Tom Boonen and Sagan in the past but the silver base paint is makes this frame particularly striking.

“I wanted to create a more mature looking bike to match Sagan’s growth as an athlete and double world champion,” said Ron Jones, lead road designer at Specialized. “I did some research on some new prismatic paints and found a product that did exactly what I was looking for. I wanted to have a ton of depth to the paint, with obvious references to the rainbow jersey but without explicitly adding stripes or patterns.”

The Venge is built with a Shimano Dura-Ace Di2 groupset, Roval CLX60 wheels with Specialized tires and Taxc water bottle cages. The frame is notable for being equipped with rim brakes as the UCI is re-starting testing on disc-brakes. Sagan was seen riding the new Specialized Roubaix with disc brakes performing some impressive stunts in a New Year’s day video shared on social media.
