Road Bars

Here are some current road bar options and some advice on choosing the right bar for your needs.

Proper road bike fit is critical for performance and comfort, but with the numerous handlebar options available, choosing the right bar is not a simple task. Choices include shallow drop, deep drop, anatomic or classic bend. Here are a few of the current road bar options.

Stealth Evo – $850
PRO
13038
This one-piece bar and stem combo exemplifies the pro look and performance many riders seek in top-end road gear. The flat top portion of the bar offers a noticeably more comfortable grip position while the integrated dual cable routing creates a clean aero look. Although this lightweight integrated system may not accommodate everyone’s fit requirements, cyclists that can achieve the correct position will be rewarded with a comfortable, vibration-damping ride and envy-inducing looks.

SL SS – $ 529
Zipp
13039

At a feathery 170 g, the SL SS bars deliver the weight savings necessary for challenging hill climbs without compromising the stiffness necessary for prime-winning sprints. Zipp’s VCLC vibration-damping technology smoothes the ride during fast descents on choppy roads, while the cable routing grooves and gradual external taper assure a classic aesthetic. This is great bar for smaller riders or hill climbing specialists.

Rotundo Pro – $90
3T
13037

While not as sexy looking as some ergo-bend bars, many savvy pros still prefer traditional bend bars for their fit and better control in the drops. Cyclists wanting the same traditional bend performance, but unwilling to spend hundreds of dollars on 3Ts top-of-the line carbon fibre offering should consider the Rotundo Pro. Made with a durable and lightweight triple-butted 7075 aluminum, these bars have an efficient classic shallow-drop shape and weigh a very reasonable 245 g in a 42cm width. Here’s a chance to experience what the pros already know.
