NABHS: Blacksmith Cycles brings a pair of DeAnima’s to Sacramento

Classic construction meets modern design and a wild paint scheme on two handmade Italian bicycles

DeAnima NAHBS 2019 Blacksmith Cycles

Among the rows of American and Canadian bikes on display at the 2019 North American Handmade Bicycle Show (NAHBS) will be two eye-catching Italian-made DeAnima bikes from Toronto’s Blacksmith Cycles.

DeAnima is the project of Gianni Pegoretti, creating hand-built carbon fibre and steel bikes in Italy. The brand was created after Gianni set out on his own path, after years of working with his now late-brother, the renowned Italian frame builder Dario Pegoretti.

Blacksmith Cycles helped launch DeAnima’s North American presence at NAHBS in 2018. This year, two very different road bikes will be presented at the show.

DeAnima AMG-01

First is an AMG-01 Splatter Edition, DeAnima’s carbon road bike. Featuring disc brakes and a striking splatter paint scheme, the AMG-01 is the Italian brand’s carbon fibre disc road offering. The frame geometry is fully customizable and takes about two days to make by hand. This Pollock-inspired frame has been built up with Campagnolo’s Super Record EPS 12-speed drivetrain.

DeAnima DeFer

Next to the eye catching splatter of the AMG-01, the more subtle tones of a DeAnima DeFer will on display in Sacramento. As a counterpoint to the modern materials of its carbon fibre sibling, the DeFer focuses on bringing classic Italian frame building techniques into the modern era. With flat mount disc brakes and Shimano Dura Ace Di2 9170 components, it is a merger of tradition and technology.

If you’re in Sacramento for NAHBS this weekend, stop by the Blacksmith Cycles booth to see both these handmade Italian bikes.
