Specialized Venge preview

There's been much anticipation about the S-Works+McLaren Venge. We've now had a chance to check it out. Heath Cockburn, manager of La Bicicletta in Toronto gave us a preview.

When Specialized unveiled its S-Works+McLaren Venge at Milan-San Remo, HTC rider Matt Goss gave it the perfect debut by winning aboard the new bike. Since then there’s been intrigue about the new Venge.

The Venge is the result of a year-long collaboration between engineers at Specialized and McLaren to hone the aerodynamics, stiffness and weight of the Venge. The goal was to harness McLaren’s knowledge with advanced materials, especially carbon designs used in their Formula One-winning race cars.

Now the Venge is much closer to being in the hands of riders looking for a carbon road race bike with an aerodynamic edge.

This weekend, Canadian Cycling got a chance to check out the Venge at bike retailer La Bicicletta in Toronto.

La Bicicletta’s manager Heath Cockburn said there’s been a lot of interest in the Venge. He said customers have been asking about the bike, which they hope to have in the store mid-summer.

We took the opportunity to chat with Cockburn about the design of the Venge, and the kind of riders who’d benefit from its innovative design.
