Silca Italian Army Knife

You should never head out on a ride without being prepared for the unexpected. Having a compact quality multitool in your jersey pocked or saddle bag with all the right bits to make minor adjustments or fixes is really important. The Silca Italian Army Knife is a quality tool and comes in a nine or 13 tool option. Durable, easy to use and incorporating everything you need it’s the perfect tool to rely on during your riding.

The Tredici has 13 forged and plated tools. Included is Hex 2, 2.5, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 8, Torx 10, 20 and 25, PH2 and Flat screw driver bits, and a disc pad spreader. The Nove has Hex 2, 3, 4, 5 ,6 and 8, Torx 25, and PH2 and Flat screw driver bits. The 8 mm is magnetically attached to the 5 mm. Both models have a space to keep a chain quick link. Stainless steel pivot’s ensure everything moves smoothly and last for many years to come.

The tools on Silca’s Italian Army Knife are a pleasure to use. They feel extremely solid and adjustments to your stem or seat post feel exact. The exterior of the tool is beautifully finished and feels very nice in the hand. I was able to rely on the Tredici Italian Army Knife to remove the thru axles on my bike to fix flats, make adjustments to the saddle and cockpit when traveling, and have the piece of mind that on my rides I’d be prepared for almost anything. The tools rotate out smoothly and everything feels very firmly head in place when in use.

For a tool this size it’s got everything I needed for my bike. If you are taking a longer trip and want more tools, you may need to look elsewhere but otherwise this tools has got you covered. The length of the tools is good and making adjustments in tight spots is generally hassle free. Things like a chain breaker, spoke wrench, chain hook and tire levers would be nice additions but add considerable bulk and limited usefulness. Silca have chosen what to include carefully and done a really nice job of incorporating each tool into the overall design.

Both tools fit easily into my saddle bag and were not noticeable when I decided to keep them close at hand in my back pocket. The Silca Italian Army Knife is a gorgeous multitool with all the bits to make the important adjustments on the fly. The Tredici retails for $46 and the Nove for $33.
