St. Catharines Cycling Club prepared for another season in Giordana

Steve Bauer Classic gets slick Giordana yellow winners jersey

St. Catharines Cycling Club will be training and racing in Giordana apparel for another year. The clothing brand that supplies Astana and Mitchelton-Scott on the UCI WorldTour will continue its partnership with the Niagra region club through Canadian supplier Uno Imports. The team will be racing in the Giordana FR-C Pro kit which Canadian Cycling tested in 2017 and will continue putting it through its paces in the coming year.

“The jersey is breathable and stretches nicely to sit comfortably on the torso. On the hottest days, the jersey provides excellent ventilation to keep your body cool,” we wrote about the FR-C pro jersey when we tested it last year.

“The stitching is well placed, even and tight to ensure an excellent fit,” we said about the bib shorts. “While wearing the bibs, the pedal motion feels natural with minimal bunching at the hip crease. Moving from in the saddle to standing doesn’t cause any movement in the bibs with everything held in place by lightweight straps that sit comfortably without pulling or causing tension.”

The design of the kit came through a collaboration with Bryan Sheldon the director of the St. Catharines Cycling Club and Uno Import’s Bronko Glavich. The design incorperated elements important to the clubs history and heritage in the Niagra region.

The Steve Bauer Classic yellow podium jersey will also be supplied in collaboration between the club and Italian clothing manufacteurer. The Giordana podium jersey has a back zip and will be awarded to the winners of the elite men’s and women’s races when in a podium ceremony following the race in Pelham, Ont. The Steve Bauer Classic’s defining feature is the challenging Effingham hill climb.
