A 20-year-old cyclist was killed early Tuesday morning 50-km outside of Toronto. The young man was killed in a hit-and-run in Whitchurch-Stouffville at Ninth Line and Bethesda Sideroad at around 6 a.m. according to CP24.

The victim was discovered by a passerby according to York Regional Police. The passerby contacted police and the cyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.

The police are asking anyone in the area around 6 a.m. that saw the cyclist to come forward. Additionally, the police are urging residents to keep on the lookout for vehicles with fresh damage.

Daunte Thompson-Bruce has been identified as the victim. Friends said he biked everywhere and that early morning rides weren’t usual for him. According to police, he had spent the night at a friends house a 20-minute bike ride north of where he was hit. “We don’t know how long he may have been at the side of the road or what circumstances led up to the collision with this unknown vehicle that we are looking for,” said Const. Marina Orlovski to CTV News Toronto.

The police did not release any information about the suspect vehicle.
