Ava Holmgren announces ‘cross worlds change
The Lidl-Trek rider will not be on the start line in France

One less Holmgren will be toeing the line at the ‘cross worlds this weekend. Ava Holmgren, sister of Bella and an incredibly talented multidisciplinary rider, has announced that she won’t be racing the 2025 UCI ‘cross worlds in France.
Ava, who had a fantastic season debut as a WorldTour rider on Lidl-Trek—including a podium at the Tour de Romandie—will bow out for the big race this weekend.
“Unfortunately, I won’t be racing the cyclocross worlds this year. I’ve been fighting sicknesses since December and haven’t been able to prepare properly. Super disappointed to miss out on almost all of my planned CX races this year, but the fever still burns,” she posted. “On the bright side, I’ve started to make some bigger steps towards a healthier 2025.”

Ava Holmgren had a solid ride at the 2024 world champs—the first year she and her sister Bella raced in the under-23 category.
Ava, like her sister, also has a big road season ahead of her, so skipping the worlds, although disappointing, may be of lesser consequence in the bigger picture.
The racing runs from Jan. 29 to Feb. 4, and Canadian Cycling Magazine will be in France for the races. Check our website, X, Instagram, and BlueSky for full reports.
