This year's ride will likely push a target of $500,000 for mental health initiatives for the CASA Foundation over the top

This summer, a group of more than 40 cyclists will hit the road on a 900-km trek, beginning on Vancouver’s seashore, then along the Sea-to-Sky Highway to Whistler, B.C. The ride, called the Minds Over Mountains cycle tour, which supports the Child, Adolescent and Family Mental Health Foundation (CASA).

In the last two years, the ride has raised has been around $480,000, almost hitting the goal of $500,000.

So close to the target, Mind Over Mountains has now become a signature fundraising event for CASA.

This year, the trip rolls north through the interior of British Columbia toward Jasper, organizers told the Edmonton Journal, making this latest incarnation of the fundraising ride one of the most spectacular yet. “We hit the road June 18 on a 900-km trip through some of Canada’s best scenery,” said Allan Mayer, the trip’s route planner. “We’ll begin with a ride along the Vancouver seashore before taking the Sea-to-Sky Highway to Whistler.”

Beyond Whistler, waypoints in Lillooet, 70 Mile House, Clearwater, Blue River and the Terracana Resort, dotting the landscape northeast across British Columbia, will welcome the 40 participating riders, before the trip rolls to its conclusion — and a celebration — in Jasper, Alberta.

The June 18 ride, reports say, will push that $500,000 goal well over the top.
