At the Saryarka Velodrome in Astana, Kazakhstan, the 2015 UCI Juniors Track Cycling World Championships came to a close on Sunday, with four finals on the calendar to round out what had been a blistering, fast-paced few days on the track.

First up were the finals in the Women’s Omnium.

Danielle McKinnirey of Australia took the win in that event, with a 500m victory under her belt and 189 points already accumulated. With those particularly towering credentials, the Australian rider landed her home country its third title of the Championships, beating out Poland’s Daria Pikulic, whose score card of 179 points contributed to her points race world title earlier in the week. Adding to her own country’s standing was Martina Alzini of Italy, who finished the competition in third place, taking bronze.

Australia powered to another strong win in the Madison, when Kelland O’Brien worked with teammate James Robinson to maintain a commanding lead through the final, earning them the title just ahead of the Russian team of Piskunov and Markov, with the Italian squad of Cima and Giordani coming in third.

With that commanding performance in the Madison, the Australian duo netted for the land down under its fourth medal of the competition.

The Women’s Keirin, on the other hand, went to Germany, with Emma Hinze demonstrating her utter superiority in sprinting, something she had also shown in both the team sprints and the individual sprints. It amounted to her third title of 2015, besting one of Australia’s riders, Courtney Field, for the second time after prevailing the day before in the individual sprint. For Field, though, her silver medal win adds to another, as well as an individual sprint win in 2015 — polishing her prestige as one of the top Junior sprinters on the planet.

Finally, it was the Men’s individual sprint finals that closed out the 2015 Junior Track Cycling World Championships, a competition that put the defending 2014 World Champion, South Korea’s Je One Park, right in the spotlight. Holding on to his title, Je One Park crossed the finish with Jiri Janosek, who won silver in the keirin, coming in second. Janosek, however, leaves the competition in Kazakhstan with a nicely-rounded triplicate medal count: gold in the kilometre, and silvers in both the keirin and the individual sprint.
