Don Cherry blasts bike-riding ‘pinkos’
In a speech introducing incoming Toronto Mayor Rob Ford, Don Cherry blasts bicycle-riding "pinkos."
Pinkos ride bikes. Or so says Don Cherry, who blasted bicycle-riding left-wingers in a ranting speech he delivered at Rob Ford’s induction as the new mayor of Toronto on Tuesday. The Hockey Night in Canada co-host showed up in a hot pink blazer and explained his colour choice to the crowd:
“Well, actually, I’m wearing pinko for all the pinkos out there that ride bicycles and everything, I thought I’d get it in. What’d ya expect, Ron MacLean here, to come here?”
It was a fitting bike reference by Cherry as the new Toronto mayor has long campaigned on a pro-car, anti-bicycle agenda. Here’s what Mayor Ford thinks about city bike lanes:
