Emily Flynn solos to victory at Birmingham Hammerfest

In her debut with LA Sweat after years racing for The Cyclery Racing, Ottawa-native makes an impact in USA Crit Series

Emily Flynn started her 2019 season in style. The USA Crit Series started in Birmingham, Alabama on Saturday. Flynn, racing for LA Sweat after numerous seasons with The Cyclery Racing out of Ottawa, took a big win in the first round of the national criterium series.

Flynn attacked with one lap to go in the race chasing the gamblers prize. After taking the prime, she continued pushing on. With a chasing peloton well controlled by her teammates, she crossed the line solo to take the first win in her new team colours. Flynn’s teammate Sarah Coney crossed the line in third. With four riders in the top-10, LA Sweat also won the team prize.
