Canadian UCI Continental team Floyd’s Pro Cycling took their first UCI win on Stage 2 of the Tour of Taiwan. The newly formed team earned set up 34-year-old Australia Jonathan Clarke who sprinted to victory into Jiaobanshan Park after 120 km of racing. It was Clarke’s first UCI win as a professional.

Clarke has been a pro since 2006 having raced most recently with UnitedHealthcare for nine seasons. The sprint was opened up by Nathan Earle (Israel Cycling Academy) who lead into the races penultimate turn but as the road veered again, Clarke squeezed by. From the front, Clarke sprinted to the line as the road continued to curve.

Clarke beat Earle who finished third and Giovanni Lonardi (Nippo Vini Fantini Faizanè) came by in second. There’s a couple of Canadians competing in the five-stage race including Émile Jean, Nicolas Zukowsky and James Piccoli (Elevate-KHS).

Floyd’s was formed in with funds from Floyd Landis’ whistleblower suit against Lance Armstrong in late-2018 out of the structure of Silber Pro Cycling.

Floyd’s was also competing at the Redlands Classic where Noah Granigan picked up a win on Saturday’s Stage 4 criterium. The team also had Alec Cowan finish third on the second and the final stages on his way to picking up fifth overall.
