Gallery: Svein Tuft and Leah Kirchmann smash their way to Canadian ITT championship titles

Silber and Rally sweep the U23 podiums in the men's and women's categories respectively

The 2018 Canadian road championships kicked off on Thursday with the individual time trials. The course was 37-km on undulating roads for the men and 25-km for the women.

In the elite men’s race, Svein Tuft (Mitchelton-Scott) performed flawlessly besting the time of Rob Britton (Rally Cycling) by 35-seconds to take his 11th and likely his final career Canadian time trial title. Alex Cataford (UnitedHealthcare) finished third while Adam Roberge (Silber Pro Cycling) won the U23 title.

In the women’s race, Leah Kirchmann (Sunweb) took her second career Canadian ITT title by eight seconds over defending champion Karol-Ann Canuel (Boels-Dolmans). Kirsti Lay (Rally Cycling) rounded out the podium in third. Sara Poidevin (Rally Cycling) won her third straight U23 title.
