Garneau announces two-year partnership with Clif Pro Mountain Bike Team

Team of Catharine Pendrel and Maghalie Rochette to debut Garneau kit at Sea Otter Classic in April

With the 2017 mountain bike season right around the corner, Garneau has announced a two-year sponsorship agreement with the Clif Pro Mountain Bike Team. Members of one of the world’s most competitive women’s mountain bike teams will be decked out in Garneau apparel. The roster includes Olympic bronze medalist, multiple-time World Cup round and overall winner, and two-time world champion Catharine Pendrel. Also on the roster is Canadian cyclocross champion and top-five finisher at the 2017 ‘cross world championships Maghalie Rochette.

The kit that the team will wear in competition is the Garneau Women’s Course skinsuit which was developed specifically for women athletes. Key features include the mesh front covered panel under the jersey, a race fit cut suitable for the rigors of cross country mountain bike racing and a women’s chamois. The apparel was also developed in collaboration with the input of Clif Pro Team riders.

“This partnership is a great opportunity for Garneau to connect with the mountain bike community across the world,” said Garneau global marketing director, Eric Sakalowsky. “We’ve been offering a complete line of mountain bike clothing, much of it with women’s-specific designs, for years and both our custom and in-line clothes fit well for cross-country, all mountain and enduro.

“Our association with the Clif Pro Team is also an important statement to promote women’s cycling,” Sakalowsky explained. “Garneau is so proud to work with these great female athletes, who are true role models on and off the bike.”

For their part, as the team continues to seek top results at the season’s biggest race, the team is excited for the new partnership. The team will debut in the kit at the Sea Otter Classic in mid-April. “The Clif Pro Team is thrilled that Garneau has decided to sponsor us through 2018”, said Clif Pro team general manager Dave McLaughlin. “We have riders who are on the Canadian national and Olympic teams, so they’ve already been in Garneau for some years.

“They couldn’t stop talking about the quality products and service they offer, and I’m pleased to say the partnership is off to a great start,” McLaughlin elaborated. “We are really happy that the stars have aligned to make this happen and are looking forward to cultivating this great relationship.”
