The helmet uses dimples for improved aerodynamics, large vents and channeling to keep the riders head cool and weighs in at 250 g

Aero helmets rule the peloton on flat stages of the Tour de France and companies are giving professional riders more options to choose from when they want to go fast. The current trend is towards lids that offer aerodynamic advantages while keeping riders heads cool. Giant have introduced the Pursuit which is designed to be fast, airy and light.

Alongside the Giant-Alpecin WorldTour team and France’s Aero Concept Engineering the Pursuit was developed to be a well-ventilated helmet that performs well in the wind tunnel and out on the road.

To achieve this aim Giant have given the Pursuit big ventilation holes in the front of the helmet and channels that allow air flow to pass over the rider’s head and out vents in the back of the helmet with a system Giant call AeroVent. With a claimed weight of 250-g the helmet is also lightweight.

Giant say the Pursuit is a helmet designed, “without any compromises in weight, ventilation or fit.” Giant offer two fit styles, the more oval shaped models of Western heads and the rounder Asian fit. The helmet uses a Cinch Pro fit system to adjust the helmet and multi-density EPS foam to absorb different sorts of impacts. Anti-bacterial padding and light wedding are also used on the inside of the helmet.

For improved aerodynamics, the helmet is given two dimples on the side of the helmet that run from the crown to the rear. These were found to make the helmet faster at different head angles at with different wind directions.
