Hot Sauce rhymes about winter cyclocross training

Mark McConnell isn't letting Calgary's snow and cold hold him back

Mark ‘Hot Sauce’ McConnell hasn’t let the recent weather in Calgary slow down his preparation for the European portion of his cyclocross season. Accompanied by his dog Charlie, the beard cyclocrosser has been training in the cold winter weather that has rolled through Alberta.

To celebrate the Canadian winter training, Hot Sauce spilled out some snowy cyclocross rhymes:

“Training in the Great White North is not always that easy,
Got my bar mitts on so my hands don’t turn into a freeze,
I’m going to keep this short, don’t want things to get sleazy,
I also fit in 10 30 second max efforts with rut riding, u-turns and a few technical take-downs,
I dare do the same without getting queezy.”

The video then cuts to McConnell shredding through the snow in a park performing  drills on off camper, rutted snow which was seemingly very slippery.

While the European courses he will face later this winter will likely feature more mud than snow, Hot Sauce makes the most of the winter conditions that face him on his training rides. In an Instagram post last week of his front tire in fresh snow he wrote, “Canadian mud”.

At the beginning of the month he didn’t even let frigged -24 C temperatures hold him back from getting out for training.
