The first event of the 2015 UCI Road World Championships in Richmond, Virginia saw Canada’s Karol-Ann Canuel’s Velocio-SRAM take its fourth consecutive women’s team time trial title, earning Canuel her second gold medal. Canuel was in the squad when it won as Specialized-lululemon last season. Velocio’s fastest time over 38.8-km was 47:35 for an average of 48.9 km/h.

The last team to depart and fastest to arrive, Velocio celebrated after the line.

American outfit Pepper Palace Pro was the first team to roll. Another team from the USA featuring Canadian Alison Jackson, Twenty16-ShoAir, held the best time of 49:40 until Dutch silver-medal squad Boels-Dolmans stopped the clock at 47:41.

The Netherlands’ Rabo-Liv recently beat the well-drilled Velocio-SRAM at the World Cup TTT in Sweden, but could only reach the podium in Richmond, the sextet’s 48:31 besting Britain’s Wiggle-Honda by 14-seconds for bronze.

German Trixi Worrack is the only Velocio-SRAM member who was on all four winning teams.

Twenty16 placed fifth, Canadian Laura Brown’s UnitedHealthcare came sixth and Optum presented by Kelly Benefit Strategies, featuring Jasmin Glaesser and Leah Kirchmann, claimed eighth.
