Fox News is reporting that a new federal warrant confirms that police have found the gun used to murder Moriah Wilson in the Austin home of fugitive Kaitlin Armstrong.

This follows the news on Thursday that US Marshals that Armstrong sold her Jeep just days before fleeing Texas. Armstrong is wanted in connection to the killing.

The authorities said that the new warrant confirms that used shell casings at the murder scene are the same as those that police later fired from a handgun seized at the fugitive’s Texas home. Armstrong lived with with pro cyclist Colin Strickland.

“On the date of the murder, Armstrong owned a pistol that the Austin Police Department seized from Armstrong’s residence in the course of their investigation,” the new statement reads. “Laboratory test-firing of Armstrong’s pistol confirmed that it fired the spent shell casings that APD found at the scene of the murder.”

The warrant was filed on May 25 but only made public Thursday. Armstrong has been on the run for over a month, following a warrant for her arrest in connection with the murder of Wilson. She was seen in New Jersey days after, but since then the trail has gone cold. There was speculation that she may have fled to Canada, or a remote campground, but nothing has been confirmed.

Reward increased for location of Armstrong

The US Marshals originally issued a $5,000 reward for anyone who helps with her capture. However, that number has gone up to $21,000 after an anonymous donor gave another $16,000.

Jason Jensen, a private investigator said that Armstrong’s quick sale of her Jeep is $4,000 less than its book value.

“The quick sale manifests her intent to run,” Jensen said on Fox News. “She was ditching the car, likely knowing officials could trace to whereabouts through her plates.”
