Neat innovation: the portable bike lane

Rear-projected, laser bike lane

I’ve been intrigued by this product ever since I read about it three years ago. In fact, I’ve had dreams about it. In these times of increasing bike lanes in Canadian cities and more riders on the road, this tail-light idea is an intriguing one. So far, however, the product hasn’t seemed to develop beyond the prototype and testing stage. It’s a shame because, aesthetically the LightLane is more pleasing than bungying a pool noodle to your rear rack to show your width. The company’s website reveals the details and you can see the green version in action . I prefer the red one. One of its drawbacks is that it works best when it’s rather dark. When it’s finally released, I look forward to seeing what it looks like on snow.
