Rochette still second in World Cup standings after top-20 in Tabor

All Dutch podium in Czech Republic's fourth round

Maghalie Rochette, two-time Pan American cyclocross champion, placed 16th in Saturday’s fourth round of the UCI Cyclocross World Cup in Tabor, Czech Republic to retain her second place in the standings. Rochette placed two places ahead of World Cup leader Katerina Nash at her home course.

Rising Dutch star Ceylin del Carmen Alvarado took the early lead with Rochette 12th after Lap 1.

Alvarado found her main competition coming from her Dutch compatriot Annemarie Worst. Worst’s first attack on the final lap failed to dislodge Alvarado but the second surge stuck. Worst and Alvarado were also one-two in the Bern, Switzerland round in late-October, and on Saturday they were joined by Worst’s 777 teammate and compatriot Yara Katelijn for an all-Dutch podium.

Worst moves up to 6th in the World Cup rankings, with Nash 21 points ahead of Rochette and Kaitlin Keough a further 18 points back. Rochette memorably won September’s first round in Iowa City.
