Friday morning, not only was Ryan Roth’s flight to Philadelphia delayed, but so was an announcement about the team he would be riding with.

“They’re going to have to do it today or tomorrow. By Sunday, the cat will be out of the bag,” he said. While he knew the team, the 2012 Canadian road champion revealed that he faced some unknowns, like what bike he’d be using. “It’s always a new adjustment when you have new stuff. But hopefully everything falls into place quickly and I can have a good race. I’ll learn more when I get there.”

Hours later, his new team showed its hand. Silber Pro Cycling is the new home. He’ll ride for the Montreal-based team that has Gord Fraser and Scott McFarlane as its directeurs sportif. At the beginning of the month, Silber riders Derrik St. John and Nicolas Masbourian were badly injured at a crash at Tour of the Gila. Roth has been having a strong 2014 season with the Jet Fuel-Norco development team. He was second overall atthe Joe Martin Stage Race and is currently second in the USA Cycling National Racing Calendar standing. Also joining Roth and the Silber Pro Cycling team is Matteo Dal-Cin from Stevens – The Cyclery.

“We lost three riders to injuries at the Tour of the Gila,” said McFarlane in a statement. “We responded to a difficult situation by making the team stronger than ever. Roth is a proven, special rider who is one of Canada’s best racers. Dal-Cin is a developing rider of the highest order. Their addition demonstrates that Silber Pro Cycling is building a program that attracts and supports riders that know what it takes to win. Between the two of them, they have nine wins so far this year.”

Both of the new Silber riders have the Canadian road nationals on their lists of upcoming races. Roth his hoping to make it back to both the Tour of Alberta and the two Grand Prix races in Quebec.
