Ryder Hesjedal 86th in UCI WorldTour rankings

18th in the Tour lifts the cyclist from Victoria

Thanks to a fine last week in the Tour de France to finish 18th on GC, Canada’s Ryder Hesjedal moved up to 86th in the UCI WorldTour rankings with 26 points. The Garmin-Cervelo racer is sandwiched between the Russian Pavel Brutt of Katusha and the Belorussian Vasili Kiryienka of Movistar who are tied on points with the rider from Victoria, B.C. Tour de France winner Cadel Evans of Australia leads the pack.

This season Hesjedal has also finished 4th in the GP Miguel Indurain, 7th in the Criterium International, and 9th and 10th on GC in the Tour of the Basque Country and the Tour of California respectively.

After a much-needed rest, Hesjedal will race the first ever USA Pro Cycling Challenge in Colorado from August 22 to 28. He’s also expected to participate in both Quebec Grand Prix Cycliste races in September before the World Championships in Copenhagen, Denmark.
