Sagan channels inner Danny Zuko to help 100% create new Glendale’s

New sports eye-wear are inspired by Americana, the lens is made in France and the frame is made in Italy

Peter Sagan says he will be training in two weeks after a ‘quick pit stop’ for heart

Peter Sagan

It’s no secret Peter Sagan is enamoured by muscle cars and Americana culture. He starred in a bizarre Grease tribute with his ex-wife. His hair has at many times harkened back to the 1970s. More recently, the Slovak was part of a project to bring to life the new 100% Glendale performance eyewear released today. The classes have a bit of a retro style but we will have to wait to see Sagan racing in them because the European cycling season is over and the former three-time world champion is in the midst of his off-season.

“I have very little time in my life for anything outside training, media work and racing,” explained Sagan about the idea for the Glendale. “But two years ago, when I decided to join forces with my guys at 100%, we got to spend some good relaxing time together in Southern California.

“Amongst other things, I remember we instantly clicked on our shared love of design and American vintage muscle cars. Sparks quickly happened and together with the creative team of Jerome and Marc, we went to work on this very special concept that would bridge the gap between one of my life passions and my everyday racing. I was so excited!” Sagan said.

The new glasses have a cylindrical shield. The frame is made in Italy, while the lightweight polycarbonate lenses offer UV400 protection and are made in France. Their Americana design bring the three together. Other features include grippy nose and temple tips, and a Hydrolio lens treatment to repel water, dirt and oil. The frame is designed to offer good air flow.

The glasses will retail for $185 with them including a spare clear lens and alternative nose pieces.
