SpiderTech’s Ryan Roth victorious in Univest Grand Prix

Runner up in 2007

Canadian Ryan Roth of Team SpiderTech Powered by C10 won a three man sprint to take the Univest Grand Prix, a race in which he finished second in 2007. Roth outpowered Americans Frank Pipp (Bissell Pro Cycling) and Tom Zirbel (Jamis/Sutter Home) at the line in Souderton, Pennsylvania. Twenty-two Canadian racers were on the start line.

Roth’s teammate and fellow Canadian Francois Parisien had been in the day’s breakaway with Brett Tivers of Garneau Club Chaussures. Once the duo was reeled in by the peloton, Roth and Pipp attacked with three laps of the seven kilometres finish circuit and Zirbel bridged over with a lap remaining, joining the two with one and a half kilometres to go.

Roth kicked hard on the downhill just before the uphill finish and nipped the Americans by going up the right side.
