Cyclocross season came to its apex in Ontario on Sunday, as the Ontario Cyclocross Championships rolled out in St. Catharines, Ont.

Under sunny skies and brisk, albeit oddly spring-like conditions, riders hit the terrain in a range of classifications, from under-17 to under-13 to the day’s Masters and Elites. Capping off the day’s competition, single speed competition kicked off, pitting a field of seven provincial riders against one another. Overall, it was a showcase of some of the province’s top dirt-eating talent, one hard, twisting corner after another.

Riding kicked off at Burgoyne Park in St. Catharines, the traditional site of We Need More Cowbell Cross. Starting at 9:30 on the morning of Sunday, Nov. 15, the Master racers hit the course, culminating in competition for the Elite men, the under-23 men, and the single-speed riders in the afternoon — the single-speed competition, of course, being the only one that wasn’t vying for championship standing. Racing looped through a track that hugged the periphery of the Burgoyne woods, diving into the trees for a challenging, technical run-up and downhill portion.

Put simply, it was the kind of course that tests a rider in a rather unforgiving, grinding manner, giving the field’s impressive range of talent a final chance to shine for the season.

Podium standings in each classification were as follows:
