Unbound Gravel: Rob Britton and Haley Smith 6th in 200, plus the complete list of Canadian finishers

Rain and mud created an unforgettable day of racing

Ivar Slik of the Netherlands won the men’s 200-mile race of the 2022 Unbound Gravel on Saturday, outkicking Keegan Swenson in second place and defending champion Ian Boswell.

Former pro Laurens ten Dam, came in fourth, just ahead of Alexey Vermeulen, winner of the 2022 Belgian Waffle Ride California. Canada’s Rob Britton, who retired as a pro road racer in 2021, rolled with a very respectable sixth.

Argentina’s Sofia Gomez Villafane took the women’s race, soloing for 110 km, beating last year’s winner Lauren De Crescenzo  with Emily Newsom taking third. Canada’s Haley Smith also took sixth in her very first Unbound.
