The hills of Whistler, B.C. are even more alive than usual right now, with the Crankworx Freeride Mountain Bike Festival underway, having started on August 7. It’s a must-see, breathtaking place. For many Canadians, though, a taste of the renowned site in British Columbia, just outside Vancouver, is a little out of reach.

For those who have never been, a video posted to YouTube this weekend does a good job of showing why the trails of Whistler draw the country’s best riders.

More than alpine resorts and winter scenery, Whistler is also a place of rugged, inestimable natural beauty year-round, situated in one of the most beautiful landscapes in Canada — if not on Earth. As a happy consequence, the environs of Whistler-Blackcomb find themselves host to everything from Crankworx to Whistler Cyclocross, coming up this September.

Posted on Friday, August 7 by YouTube user Lost Skittles, a nine minute-plus video takes viewers from the top of the mountain through its lush, canopied woods, and down the trails to the outskirts of Whistler Village. In true point-of-view fashion, the video makes a compelling case for why Whistler, British Columbia, like elsewhere in the province, is synonymous with trail riding.
